The Vanguard was a step down from the Stingray, Mustang and the Anfibio - using a standard water resistant case with a screw back rather than the patented Roamer waterproof case system. Note the printed logo rather than the usual applied logo of the better grade watches. Vanguards came in several grades, 315/316 were the best of the Vanguard models with the MST471 automatic movement, the 303 and 313 were the lower grade manual MST 80X movements. The date given to this watch is based on the elements such as hands, dial, movement and case style - as it does not appear in any of the catalogs or advertising I have access to.
